One Year Anniversary

Angela and I celebrated our one year anniversary these last few days at The Inn at the Tides in Bodega Bay thanks in part to a gift certificate from my Dad.

The room was nice, and came with a fireplace, a king size bed, and wireless Internet access (not free). It had a pretty nice view of the ocean, and I noticed some rooms had a small patio (although ours did not). The complimentary breakfast across the street at the hotel’s restaurant included muffins, fruit, your choice of granola or oats, and coffee and juice.

We spent the first day driving along the coast and enjoying the scenery. We ended up at Brisas del Mar for dinner. The fish and chips, and fried calamari were very good. After dinner we used our new fondue pot and melted some chocolate and ate it with fruits for dessert.

Our second day we did some exploring in West County. We drove through the small town of Freestone hoping that a bakery we had heard about, Wildflour, would be open, it was not. We continued on to Occidental, and saw a breakfast spot, Harold’s, that was a recommended must.

We made the loop back to Bodega Bay and stopped in at a taffy shop, and then walked next door to buy a kite. We made our way down to the beach, taffy and kite in hand, and attempted to fly the kite. We were not very successful, we blame the poor kite design. :)

Dinner that night was at Lucas Wharf, which was packed, and took us around thirty minutes to be seated. Once seated though, Angela and I had really great Fisherman’s Soup and Blackened Cajun Snapper Sandwich respectively.

Day three ended our trip, and took us to Harold’s, a really great breakfast spot in Occidental. My cappuccino was good, and Angela’s mocha was frickin’ huge! The Peaches and Cream Waffles and Eggs Benedict were very filling and very tasty.

It was a great first anniversary, and I look forward to many more of them with my beautiful wife Angela, hopefully with the help of more gift certificates… hint, hint.
